Solutiosn for ACCPAC Plsu Users

ACCPAC Plus is officially discontinued (as of September 30th, 2006).   What does that mean to users who are still using "that old DOS program?"

  • Some versions of ACCPAC Plus have problems with dates after December 31, 2009. Depending on the module and exact version this may only affect some reports or may be more serious..
  • You will not be able to produce cheques that meet the new recommended formatting requirements at Canadian banks.
  • It will be harder to get support for the software if you have a problem.  At Business Computer Centre, we will do what we can, but we cannot guarantee we can keep ACCPAC Plus running indefinitely.
  • As new features are added to modern accounting software, like e-mail connections for example, you will be left further and further “behind the curve.”

So, what should you do?

First, in consultation with your accountant, assess what your needs are:  We can help with this.   Then decide on what software to switch to and the timing of the switch.

Simply Accounting

For users with limited transaction volume and basic reporting requirements, Simply Accounting may be a good choice.   Business Computer Centre can help you convert much of your ACCPAC data.  The conversion carries over:

  • Accounts Receivable clients
  • Accounts Payable vendors
  • Chart of Accounts (which usually needs significant revision to work in Simply Accounting)
  • GL balances

Outstanding transactions in Payables and Receivables have to be manually entered.

Adagio Accounting

For users using ACCPAC’s Inventory or Order Entry modules, or those with substantial transaction volume, Adagio Accounting may be the better choice.   Check out the available modules and add-on products.

No history is lost, and the processes and procedures are the same as you are used to.  For more on this, see what respected analyst Alan Salmon had to say in his column.
