Users with a variety of accounting programs have asked about converting to Adagio
Accounting. Is it hard? Will I lose information? Can I do it myself or do I need an outside
service? The answers depend on the program you are using now, the modules in use
and the amount of detail to be taken into your new Adagio database.
You should discuss this in detail with your Adagio consultant, but here are a few general
guidelines.
Converting from ACCPAC Plus
- The conversions required from version 6.1 or 6.5 core modules; is performed by the Adagio modules when you first open the ACCPAC data using the matching Adagio Module. No data or history is lost. In most cases, you cannot access the converted data with ACCPAC Plus.
- Before conversion, talk with your consultant about any third-party programs you
are using (Inventory Receipts, Softline utilities, etc.).
- You should separately discuss the best process for converting to a new Payroll
program and what the best choice would be depending on your requirements.
Converting from ACCPAC Advantage (Sage ERP)
- If you have established more than two segments in the G/L account code, you
will have to determine how they will convert to the two-segment Adagio
structure. (You can parse apart the Department code in the Adagio Financial
Reporter to retain the effect of more than two segments for reporting purposes.)
- If you merely want to take over account balances, this can be done manually
(usually with an export to and import from Excel). More complex conversions
require the use of an outside service (Dakota Software).
- Bank reconciliation does not convert to Adagio BankRec.
- Talk with your consultant about any third-party programs you are using (Fixed
Assets or UniDevCo utilities).
- You should separately discuss the best process for converting to a new Payroll
program and what the best choice would be depending on your requirements.
Converting from Simply Accounting
- Manual conversions can be done by exporting the Chart of Accounts, balances,
Vendors and Customers. Outstanding sub-ledger transactions must be entered.
- Dakota Software offers a more complete conversion including inventory and
transaction details
- The difficulty in converting payroll will depend on your needs and the program
you select as the replacement. Such conversions are never automatic.
Converting from QuickBooks
- A manual conversion can be done by entering the account balances.
QuickBooks does not require account numbers, but if they are not used, this
option should be turned on and a coherent account/department numbering
structure created before conversion.
- Dakota Software offers a more complete conversion process.
- The difficulty in converting payroll will depend on your needs and the program
you select as the replacement. Such conversions are never automatic.
Converting from other accounting programs
- If the source program is capable of creating export files that can be read in
Excel, some retyping can be eliminated.
